We have delivered another labelling system to Foodmark as part of a brand new production line at the factory on Gotland.
The procedure is familiar from last year's delivery, and the integration required close coordination with several suppliers.
The result is a stable labelling station that matches the pace and makes the line easy to keep operating.
The new delivery is for Foodmark’s location on Gotland and is built on the same principle as the system we delivered last year. This means that the basic idea behind the solution is well-proven, but that does not make the project simple.
The labelling solution is part of a completely new production line, where both the filling and packaging machines are also new and must work together with the labelling in practice.
‘This is a system that has been delivered as part of a completely new production line at Foodmark. For us, this meant a lot of collaboration with the other suppliers to ensure that everything works together,’ says Ole Kristensen, Sales Manager at HM Systems.
When we deliver this type of setup, the task is not only to get the machines through the door, but to get them to function as a single integrated line from the first day of production.
It is often at the points of integration that things either succeed or come to a standstill. When multiple suppliers are involved, it is important to get the installation, signal exchange and timing right so that the line can run smoothly without unnecessary stoppages.
‘There has been coordination around installation at the customer's site and signal exchange on the line so that everything works together seamlessly,’
says Ole.
At the same time, it has been a clear advantage that Foodmark already has a similar setup in operation from last year. This provides a different level of calm in both testing and commissioning, because many principles are already known in production.
‘It is still fresh in the memory in production. This makes collaboration easier, and the project has gone really well,’ as Ole puts it.
When the pace is high, it is precisely this kind of predictability that can be felt in the uptime.
The labelling solution on Gotland consists of 3 x HM3000S machines, two side labellers and one top labeller.
The setup is the same as last year's delivery but adapted to the new line's layout and flow and with a capacity of up to 115 cups per minute.
The delivery is part of a larger capacity expansion, where Foodmark has invested in three labelling solutions.
‘They purchased three, one of which was a rebuild of an existing system. This is the last one we are to deliver. For us, it has been a project where we had to deliver something new and think pragmatically in relation to existing equipment, without compromising on operation and speed,’ says Ole Kristensen.
For a project to be successful, the relationship means more than you might think.
Foodmark is a customer we have been working with for many years, and this makes the collaboration more straightforward because we know both the requirements and the reality on the line. Ole does not hide the fact that the customer has a special significance for him.
Fortunately, the feeling is mutual, and Foodmark describes why they choose us again:
"We have chosen to work with HM System again. Not only because the labelling machines have worked reliably for decades, but especially because Ole and HM System have always provided fast and reliable support. This is incredibly valuable to us, as we need to ensure that production can always run smoothly – especially during the peak season in summer, when the machines cannot be allowed to stand still for a single minute!"
When that kind of trust has already been established, it becomes easier to focus on the most important thing: getting a solution up and running that just works.
