Case: No repackaging of products thanks to new plastic applicator plates

Since implementing the new, upgraded HM4000S with the plastic spring applicator plates, the production line has been running smoothly and there has been no need to repackage products. On their particular brawn/pickled, this solution has saved them 10% on repacking.

Our long-term collaboration with our Danish customer Højer Pølser has, as we've written about before, resulted in some pretty impressive milestones and stories, such as one of our installations actually being in production for 20 years - re-read the story here.

But there's more that we're particularly proud to share, namely that we've just implemented our HM4000S with new plastic spring applicator plates in one of their production lines, successfully eliminating some product repacking challenges.

Challenges

Højer Pølser experienced a lot of repacking, especially with their softer cold cuts, such as their brawn/pickled products, as the traditional aluminum applicator plates could not spring back sufficiently during the application/packaging and thus contributed to damaging the packages. This created an extra time factor in terms of repacking the products, which is unsatisfactory and unacceptable.

Højer Pølser is often under pressure because of short and tight delivery times from chains and customers. Therefore, the equipment must work and be reliable, the labelling must be perfect and fit their high-quality requirements/standards.

The Solution

Our new plastic spring applicator plates for our Cross Web HM4000S machines have been specifically designed and developed to meet these challenges that we have experienced with certain product types and packages. At Højer Pølser in particular, we could see that the new applicator plates can provide huge time savings and more non-stop operation.

It just works! With the new plastic springloaded applicator plates, it just works. There have been no problems with repacking, and it applies as it should," says Gerd Müller when we visited the production in Højer back in December 2023.

Gerd also points out that the fact that we are a local partner who can be there and can quickly respond in case of service is something he highly appreciates. Service is something he values a lot in our collaboration. He also appreciates our expertise and reliability, and the personal contact with our salesman Sten Krag-Hansen.

In total, Højer Pølser has four production lines with our HM4000S on thermoformers - which apply top and bottom labels to a wide range of different products.
