Linerfree® technology is HM Systems' patented solution for Print & Apply labelling without backing paper.
Where traditional label rolls leave up to 50% waste in the form of liner/backing paper, Linerfree utilises 100% of the material. This means fewer roll changes, less waste handling and more sustainable production.
‘We are seeing that more and more customers want a greener and more efficient labelling solution. With Linerfree, we eliminate waste and save both resources and CO2. It is a solution that goes hand in hand with many companies' sustainability strategies,’ says Henrik Thomsen, Business Development Director at HM Systems.

Until now, Linerfree has been ideal for box and pallet labelling. However, many manufacturers have been asking for a solution for retail products, and that is exactly what the new Linerfree Dispenser delivers.
With the dispenser, companies can now apply pre-printed labels without backing paper directly to retail packages such as cold cuts or meat products. The labels are cut precisely by the machine so that they retain the visual brand image, but without the environmentally harmful liner.
The difference lies in how the labels are used in production.
Imagine a package of rolled sausage:
The back must have variable data such as batch code, date marking or barcode. Here, Linerfree Print & Apply is the obvious choice because the roll is blank and the information is printed directly onto the label before it is applied.
The front must have the colourful brand label that carries the company's visual identity. This is where the new Linerfree Dispenser comes into the picture. It works with pre-printed labels in rolls of up to Ø300 mm – equivalent to approx. 500 metres of label paper. This gives up to 5,000 labels per roll at a length of 100 mm.
‘For customers, this means fewer roll changes, simple operation and far less risk of human error in production. Operators are spared the hassle of backing paper, and changing rolls takes only a few seconds,’ explains Sten Krag-Hansen, Sales Manager at HM Systems.

The new Linerfree Dispenser is particularly suitable for meat and cold cut producers, where both bulk and retail products can now be labelled 100% linerfree.
The main benefits are:
For many companies, labelling can become a bottleneck: production stoppages, mislabelling and manual repackaging cost both time and money. This is where the Linerfree Dispenser can become an important tool.
‘We see it as a natural next step for Linerfree. Now we can offer customers a complete solution – from parcel to retail. It is both a technical upgrade of the equipment and a concrete contribution to more efficient and user-friendly production,’ says Henrik Thomsen.

With the launch of the Linerfree Dispenser, HM Systems is taking another step towards making linerless labelling the industry standard.
‘It is an innovation that can change the rules of the game for labelling. Our customers are looking for solutions that both save money and protect the environment, and that is exactly what we are delivering here,’ concludes Sten Krag-Hansen.
The new version of the Linerfree Dispenser will be presented at the HI trade fair in 2025. Here you can experience how simple operation, fewer roll changes and zero waste come together as one.
